HANOVER, Mass., Jan.1, 2009 – Go-Go’s Café & Catering
of Hanover has broadened its catering operations by merging two well-known
caterers into one of the largest full-service catering companies in the
Boston area.
B&D Catering, formerly of Weymouth and Tommy’s Caterers of
Hanover, both owned by Go-Go’s Café & Catering, have
been combined to service a wide range of events from everyday meals to
once-in-a-lifetime occasions. B&D Catering has been managing grand
events since the 1960s, including corporate affairs and weddings. Tommy’s
Caterers has been providing less-formal service for more than 25 years,
providing affordable packages for office parties, christenings and other
small events. The combined catering companies will operate under Go-Go’s
Café & Catering. In January the company was ranked among the
largest caterers in the Boston area by the Boston Business Journal.
“We’ve been operating as a full-service caterer for quite
a while, but we’ve been too busy to get around to a public announcement,”
said Joseph Hines, president of Go-Go’s Café & Catering
and executive chef. “Our catering really covers the full spectrum
of events – from casual house parties to elegant weddings for hundreds
of people.”
Hines said that Go-Go’s Café has also undergone a menu change,
still providing lunch and dinner but with more distinctive entrees, daily
specials, home made soups and signature dishes. The new faire has helped
Go-Go’s to evolve into a more attractive location for one-on-one
business lunches or casual family dinners.
Hines has been connected to Go-Go’s for more than 30 years, joining
the business when he was 14-years-old and washing pots and pans. By age
17 he was running many of the company’s catering functions. After
obtaining his degree in culinary arts from Johnson & Wales University
in Rhode Island and serving as an executive chef on cruise ship, a corporate
chef for a Boston law firm and the head chef and founder of a New York
restaurant, he returned to Go-Go’s and Tommy’s Caterers in
1995. He purchased the company from owner Tom Mahoney in 2004.
